Yesterday Rocky and I went to the camp ground (Silver River) located near Silver Springs park in Florida. It was an hour and half ride for us one way. Since no one has reserved a spot there yet, we are without a place to meet. We were told that a reservation must be made NOW if anyone wants to reserve for any time in January. We checked out the cabins which are huge. There are 10 cabins. No tents are permitted to be erected on the cabin sites. The requirement for reserving a cabin is a minimum of 2 nights during weekends and holidays. (No “one-night” stands.) Six people to a cabin is maximum. Also, no pets are permitted in the cabins. No smoking are permitted inside the cabins, however, they do allow smoking on the screened-in wrap-around porches. Check in is at 4 p.m. and check out is at 11 a.m. Cabins are $110.00 per night, plus tax. It is $6.00 per car load to enter the park. Park hours for visitors are from 8 a.m. until dusk, if you are not a registered guest. In January, dusk comes very early. The campsites are also very nice. There are 59 campsites. We didn’t like the fact that they are so far from the cabin area. BTW, pets are permitted in the camping area as long as they are on a leash. Check in is at 3 p.m. and out at 1 p.m. Campsites are $24.00 per night. We think this is a great park but that it is not suited for the close knit group that we are. We would appreciate it if someone else picks up the ball and keeps updating this thread. This was Paul’s (Ozarks) baby and now he has disappeared off the face of the Earth. We realize that he has some troubles right now, but he needs to post in this thread so folks that are planning to attend know whether this event is a go or not. Again, we would appreciate it if someone else would pick up the ball and keep this thread up-dated.
